The Prizes

Miss Old Gold and Black Scholarship Pageant is an international pageant sponsored by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Chapters select contestants at the college/university and local level, then they compete at the district level and on to the regional and national levels.  The winner receives cash scholarships and prizes and the opportunity to represent the fraternity and to sponsor and host programs addressing her platform during her tenure in the position.

The Winners of Miss Old Gold and Black Scholarship Pageant receives and official rhinestone covered crown, the mark of honor, that she keeps, providing she completes the reign.  The coveted crown is won at all official functions of the chapters when requested.

The Miss Old Gold and Black receives $1,000 Cash Scholarship and  other prizes and gifts to include the crown, sash, bouquet of roses and a plaque and the opportunity to represent the chapter in the Miss Old Gold and Black Scholarship Pageant at the Texas Council of Alpha Chapter Annual Convention on February.  The scholarships are awarded in two equal installments (Spring and Fall Semester) following the pageant.

Runner-up and Contestants

 

The First Runner-up receives a scholarship in the amount of $500, bouquet of roses, plaque and other prizes as they become available.  The scholarships are awarded in two equal installments (Spring and Fall Semester) following the pageant.

Plaques are presented to the winners of the Scholarship, Personal Interview, On-Stage Projection, Talent, Lifestyle/Fitness, Evening Wear and Onstage Interview Question competitions. Additionally awards are given to the Miss Congeniality and the contestant selling the most advertisements.  All contestants receive Gift Packs, Flowers, T-shirt and other amenities when available.
