Meet the 2019-20 Contestants
The 2019-20 Black and Gold Pageant under the theme: "Black Magic Woman: Mahogany Transformation" featured twelve of the most dynamic, devastating, talented and progressive young women at Prairie View A&M University. The pageant is set for February 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium and promises to be an extravagant production for your entertainment pleasure.
Jaelyn Green - Major and Classification: Sophomore Social Work. CAREER AMBITION: to open and run an organization for children and youth that might not have a good support system. Ultimately I wish to become a Medical Social Worker. TALENT: Singing. PLATFORM: B.E.E You; B - Bold, E - Elegant & E - Empowering. It’s about building character and staying true to who you are. Richanda Berry - Major and Classification: Senior Psychology. CAREER AMBITION: To become a Pediatric Neuro-Psychologist. TALENT: Spoken word. PLATFORM: Encouraging young people to complete high school and to go to college; emphasis on young people who are impacted in the local battered women’s and children’s shelter. Teach them healthy lifestyle and relationships and to prevent teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. TWO PERSONS AT MY FANTASY DINNER - God and my 16-year-old self
Erin Haven - Major and Classification: Mass Communication, Minor in Spanish. CAREER AMBITION: To be a radio television broadcast journalist and move into Film and TV production. TALENT: Piano/Keyboard and transition into spoken word. PLATFORM: Safe HAVEN, making Prairie View your true home. Z’nae Mangum - Major and Classification: Junior. CAREER AMBITION: to become a Dermatologist. TALENT: Dancer. PLATFORM: “For The Culture,” a platform focusing amongst all issues concerning minority women and men. Specifically focusing on the future. of our community, I will focus on the culture on the campus and the importance of culture within all minorities.
