The members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Eta Gamma Chapter at Prairie View A&M University and the Epsilon Tau Lambda Chapter of Prairie View will host the 2024-25 Miss Old Gold and Black Scholarship Competition on January 26, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium in the Willie A. Tempton Student Center at the university.

The Miss Old Gold and Black Pageant is a National Program that provide an opportunity to young women for personal and professional development and to represent the chapters, participate in various events throughout the year.  The pageant is a self-contained event where most of the funds come from advertisement, ticket sales, entry fees and other contributions. These funds support scholarship prizes to the contestants, the production and general pageant operations.

We invite you support our pageant through a sponsorship and or contribution to our scholarships, gift donations or purchase advertising in the Souvenir Booklet. Attached are our sponsorship material and the Ad form for your convenience.

Our pageant achievements to date, includes our 2023 Chloe Nyr'ee Tolbert, Miss Eta Gamma is the 2023-24 Miss TCAC and Gabriell Orji, Miss Epsilon Tau Lambda as 2nd Runner-up to Miss TCAC. Mya Campbell, Miss Eta Gamma was 2nd Runner-up to Miss TCAC 2022 and 1st Runner-up to Miss Prairie View A&M University 2022; 2020: Z’Nae Mangum, Miss Old Gold and Black Eta Gamma and Melanie Hollis, Miss Black and Gold Epsilon Tau Lambda represented the chapters in the Texas Conference of Alpha Chapters in Austin, Texas. Z’Nae was named 2nd Runner-up to Miss TCAC. Z’Nae was later named Miss TCAC Old Gold and Black.  Our 2015 winner Miss Adibisi Adeniji won the district title and went on to win the Regional Miss Old Gold and Black Pageant.  The winners of this year’s pageant will follow suit and we are hopeful that they will repeat a win for our chapters. Incidentally, Z’Nae Mangum is Miss Prairie View A&M University 2021-22, with Kala Washington as First Runner-up and Melanie Hollis as 2nd Runner-up. The ladies have kept the legacy alive.  Former Miss Old Gold and Black and contestants winning the Miss PVAMU title include Brandy Byars, Moriah Colbert, Ivy Walls and Z'Nae Mangum.

We hope that we can count on you to support our programs and to continue providing opportunities to enhance our young women and men at the university.
