Meet the 2023-24 Queens . . .
The 2023-24 Old Gold and Black Pageant, under the theme: "Visions of a Golden Reign", featured eighteen of the most dynamic, devastating, talented and progressive young women at Prairie View A&M University. After six rounds of competition, the following contestants were selected as the winners: Miss Black & Gold Eta Gamma - Jocelyn Dorsey and Miss Old Gold and Black Epsilon Tau Lambda - Eniyah Watson. Jocelyn won the Texas Council of Alpha Chapters Miss Old Gold and Black and the Southwest Region Miss Black and Gold. There being no General Convention, Jocelyn is considered one of the five National Winners for 2024-25.
Jocelyn Dorsey is a native of Houston, Texas and a junior Vocal Performance major at Prairie View A&M University. She aspires to become Contemporary Christian Artist, Entrepreneur and a Broadway Star! She lives by the scriptures Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," which aspires her daily.
She is an outstanding student who has won several awards including the Tommy Tune Award Winning Best Actress, TMEA All-State Women's Choir and National Opera Association 2nd Place (first HBCU to place). She is trained in vocal, dance and Spoken Word. She is a member o the University Concert Chorale and the Charles Gilpin Players.
Her community engagement includes participating in the Houston Food Bank, Sheila Jackson Lee Toys for Tots, Campus Food Drives, Arts Mentorship, Vocal Coach and Acting Coach. She was selected as the Miss Old Gold and Black for the Texas Council of Alpha Chapters and the South West Region.
Eniyah Sanaa Watson is a native of Texarkana, Texas. She is a junior Pre-Nursing student and is expected to graduate in May 2025. She enjoys dancing and weightlifting. Her community services include Back to School Drives, Salvation Army, Wyld Life, Young Life, and Houston and other Foodbank services.
Her leadership experiences at the university and the community include serving as a certified Medical Assistant, Cosmetologist and Captain of the Panther Doll Dance Team at Prairie View A&M University that provides entertainment for the basketball teams and other activities at the university and the local community.
She enjoys working with the youth and finds time to encourage them to never give up on their dreams, no matter what the trouble or setback might be. The two most important people at her fantasy dinner would be Harriet Tubman and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, both powerful leaders of the movement in their own rights.
